Amazon Prime Day 2025: Savings expert reveals the smartest ways to save big

Published on Tue 8th July 2025

With Amazon Prime Day just around the corner, savvy shoppers are gearing up for one of the biggest sales events of the year. While this year’s deals are still under wraps, we've taken a look back at previous Prime Day bargains to give shoppers a taste of what they can expect – sharing my top tips on how to make the most of the four-day shopping bonanza.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is a big event in any deal hunters’ calendar. It's a four day event full of massive deals and discounts on loads of top brands and products from tech, to beauty, to clothing and more.

So when is the next Amazon Prime Day? Well, it starts today (8th July) and lasts until 11th, so there's still plenty of time to nab yourself a bargain.

What deals can you expect?

There's already a few Early Prime Day deals live on site, with discounts of over 50% on some items, but it's usually best to wait until the event fully launches next week as there's likely even bigger deals to be had. In past years, Amazon Prime Day UK has delivered jaw-dropping discounts, including:

  • 93% off Levi's Men's The Trucker Jacket – was £104, now £7.70
  • 85% off Geox trainers – was £94, now £16
  • 77% off Barbie Fantasy Hair Doll – was £46.86, now £13.99
  • Up to 76% off Xbox One games – CyberPunk 2077 was £45.80, now £14.90
  • 75% off Jumper 16" Laptop with Office 365 – was £750, now £249.99

With Amazon Prime Day 2025 expected to be bigger than ever, I'm sharing my top tips to help shoppers get the best bang for their buck.

What to shop for this Amazon Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day is a must for deal hunters. Some of the biggest savings are typically found on Amazon’s own products – think Kindles, Echo speakers, Firesticks, and Ring doorbells. If you’ve had your eye on any of these, it’s worth holding out for the big day. If you’re a Prime customer, you can currently save 50% off TV shows and movies too, so there’s likely to be more deals on Amazon Prime services over the next few days.

But it’s not just tech. In previous years, beauty buys, luxury products, fragrances, and even everyday essentials like toiletries and pet food have seen major markdowns.

With back-to-school season on the horizon, it’s also a great time to stock up on school supplies.

My top tips for finding the best Amazon Prime Day deals

  1. Make an Amazon wishlist.
Avoid impulse buys by listing out what you actually want and need. Add these items to your Amazon wishlist now and note down the ‘before’ price, so you can act fast when the discounts drop – and see if you’re truly getting a good deal.
  2. Use the Amazon app.
'Lightning Deals’ offer some of the best savings during Amazon Prime Day. These are limited-time only deals which are normally only available for a few hours and unfortunately there’s no advance warning. To hear about these discounts as soon as they go live, download the Amazon app and turn on alerts. This way you’ll receive a notification and be ready to strike once the best deals go live.
  3. Check price history.
Use tools like CamelCamelCamel to track price changes and make sure the deal you’re seeing is genuinely a bargain.
  4. Know when to wait.

For big-ticket items like TVs and smartphones, it might be worth holding off until Black Friday in November. Black Friday is famous for its great deals on these kinds of items so avoid missing out on an even bigger bargain and wait just a few more months.
  5. Check out VoucherCodes’ Prime Day deals page.
Not sure where to start, or just want to browse the sales? VoucherCodes is rounding up the best offers all in one place, saving you time and money when you’re shopping this Prime Day.
