The Cheapest UK Supermarkets for Picnic Shopping – 2025 Price Check

Published on Fri 25th July 2025

British summertime can be unpredictable. But one thing we can rely on is the great institution of Picky Bits™. A humous dip. A cheesy twist. A scotch egg. Hell, maybe even a crudité.

And don’t get us started on the drinks. A fresh lemonade (or, let’s be honest, a bottle of rosé) is the perfect tipple to cheers in sunnier weather.

But whilst we can all agree on the delights of picnics and al fresco indulgence, we’re pretty divided on which supermarkets win the great picnic showdown of 2025. And, as we come to conclude National Picnic Month (yes, it is a thing!) we have had some time to decide which supermarket is the cheapest and reigns supreme for picnic food. It’s been a gruelling task, testing sausage rolls and cheesy dips. But someone had to do it.

So, read on for picnic food ideas, supermarket prices, and the ultimate checklist to fill your basket with.
