The Next sale is a big event in every savvy shopper’s diary. Prices are slashed by up to 70% and most items will have at least a 50% discount.
Next is no longer just a fashion retailer and sell a wide range of products from homewares to beauty and sports equipment; they also stock many top brands such as adidas, Nike, Benefit, Estee Lauder and River Island which is why the sale is such a big deal.
Whether you love to shop from the comfort of your sofa with a cuppa in hand or you're gearing up to charge the doors the second they open, we've put together this handy guide to help you get your hands on some fab deals and shiny new items for less.
When is the Next Sale?
Next generally hold four seasonal sales throughout the year. The exact sale dates are kept a secret until a few days beforehand, but here are the confirmed and predicted 2025 dates for your diaries based on previous years:

There are sometimes smaller sale events throughout the year too, such as on Black Friday. However, the seasonal sales are usually the best, with the summer sale and Boxing Day sales known to have the most products on offer.
Top tip: You can usually tell when a sale is imminent, as you will start to notice handwritten markings on the labels in-store!
How do I get a Next VIP sale slot?
A few days before the online sale goes live, a selected group of lucky customers are invited to book a Next VIP sale slot. Not only do VIPs get first pick, but they are also able to preview the sale before buying which is a huge advantage (but more on this later).
To receive a VIP sale slot, you must hold a Nextpay account and meet a set criterion, such as having recently placed and kept an order. You can find more details and check if you’re eligible on the Next website. You must also make sure that your registered email address is up to date and your account is set to receive promotional emails.
If you are eligible, it’s important to get the first available slot if you want to make sure you bag everything you’ve got your eye on. Next will eventually email you to book, but as they slowly work their way through sending out thousands of invitations, the early timeslots get booked up very quickly. However, you don’t always need to wait for your official invite. Slots usually become available at 9am a few days before the official sale date, so it’s a good idea to keep checking your account or the VIP sale link so that if you’re an eligible VIP, you can get first pick.
Top tip: While you don't always need to wait for your invitation, you will only be able to book a slot if eligible and if you're on the VIP sale list, so sadly you won't be able to send the link to all of your non-VIP friends to book slots too.
Top tips to get the best sale bargains
Once you’ve booked a VIP sale slot, follow these top tips. Even if you’re not a Next VIP, some of these tips will be helpful for the main sale too!
1. As soon as your slot is booked, you will be given the option to preview the sale. Even though you can’t buy anything until your slot is live, taking full advantage of the preview is key to make sure you can eventually bag the bargains you want. Every product has a code – make a note of each code for the products you want to buy.
Once your slot is live, select ‘quickshop’ on the homepage and you can quickly type in all of the product codes you have saved, making sure they’re added straight to your basket.
2. It’s a good idea to use the quickshop feature on the main site too. Simply type in the product codes that you’re hoping to get in the sale and favourite each item. This way, when the VIP sale is over and the main sale starts, if there are any products you haven’t managed to get, you’ll have the best chance of getting them if they come back in stock. (Stock levels change all the time as returns are made and stock is received from various stores and warehouses, so don’t be disheartened if you don’t get what you want straight away).
3. If you’re a regular Next shopper, it’s a great idea to invest in Next Unlimited prior to the sale. This service costs £22.50 or a year and gives you unlimited free delivery – standard home delivery usually costs £4.95 each time. Next Unlimited includes free 2 person furniture deliveries too, otherwise priced at £15. When shopping the sale, items only remain in your basket for so long, so it’s a good tip to check out regularly - and you don’t want to be paying each time! Alternatively, you can get your orders delivered to your local Next store for free.

Again, many items are typically available in the men's fashion sale including jeans, shirts, suits and sportswear; popular brands on offer include Levis, adidas and Calvin Klein.
Kids clothing
Kids clothing is one of the most popular categories at Next and always sells out really quickly in the sale. Snuggle pyjamas are like gold dust so if you're hoping to get your hands on some, make it a priority!
Homewares
Next sell beautiful homewares and there are always great offerings in the sale from luxurious bedding and soft furnishings, to home accessories and fragrances.
Furniture
If you're hoping to bag a new sofa or wardrobe in the sale, you'll have to act fast. Furniture is always popular in the Next sales which isn't surprising when you consider the huge savings to be had.
Beauty
Next stock a wide range of beauty brands such as Clinique, Benefit, YSL, GHD and Urban Decay. If you're lucky, you might be able to get your hands on some branded beauty steals - Next sales their own brand quality beauty supplies which hold their own against the big names.
What else do I need to know?
You don’t need to wait for a Next sale event to bag a bargain, as there is already a clearance section available online promising at least 50% off most sale items. Just like during the sales, stock levels are updated all the time, usually in the early hours of the morning. If you know the product codes of items you want to buy, it’s a good idea to use the quickshop tool to search and add to your basket. Even if the products are sold out, keeping them in your basket gives you the best chance of grabbing them if they come back in stock.
It's also good to bear in mind that during busy sale periods, delivery times can take longer than usual so you could be waiting some time. It's best not to order something in the sale if you're going to need it quickly! You will usually be given an estimated delivery date for each product before you check out, but these dates aren't always 100% accurate.
Make sure your contact details are up to date and you’re signed up to receive emails. Not only will this ensure you’re invited to book a VIP sale slot, but Next occasionally send offers throughout the year, such as discounts on selected categories or 50% off a Next Unlimited subscription.
