Spend it like Beckham: Brits to splurge £100m during England's Semi-final match against Italy

  • 7.3m people to watch England face off against Italy
  • A whopping 12.3m Brits are set to tune into both the Semi-finals matches
  • £104.1m to be spent at retail stores in preparation for the games
  • Hospitality venues to enjoy £32m boost

A record 7.3 million Brits are set and ready to cheer on the Lionesses in the Women’s Euros Semi-finals, according to a new report.

The Women’s Euro 2025 Spending Report, by VoucherCodes.co.uk, reveals more Brits are set to tune into England’s Semi-final match against Italy than any other game so far, spending an estimated £99.7m.

The Tuesday midweek match will encourage 6.1m fans to watch the game from home, spending £79.6m at retail stores for the game - only exceeded by England’s Saturday night match against France. Supermarkets and other grocery retailers will benefit most with £69.8m expected to go on food and drink.

A further 1.2m people will watch from hospitality venues, spending £10.4m on drink and £9.8m on food - that’s a total of £20.2m.

The Semi-final stage

Looking at the Semi-finals as a whole, an eye-watering £136m will be spent across the two matches, with average sales and excitement steadily rising as the tournament goes on.

With many families tuning into the tournament, 10.3 million fans will watch the Semi-final games from home, delivering a £104.1m boost to the retail sector. With most people having stocked up on decorations (£2.5m), merch (£4.1m), electricals (£2.5m), and sportswear (£6.8m) already towards the start of the tournament, the majority of sales will come from food and drink (£88.2m).

Whilst hospitality sales are lower, they’re trending up stage on stage and are expected to reach £32m over the two Semi-final matches, with 3.4m people expected to walk through venue doors. For the first time, food sales (£16.1m) are set to outperform drink sales (£15.9m), as with both matches taking place midweek at 8pm fans will need to feed their hunger to be at full cheering ability.

Zoe Morris, Savings Expert at VoucherCodes.co.uk, comments: “After an extremely tense Quarter-final qualifier, England have made it through to the Semi-finals and fans are turning out in their droves to cheer on the Lionesses. As we get closer to the Final, more and more Brits are choosing to host watch parties or head to their local pub to watch the matches - patiently waiting to find out if it’ll be a second Euros win.

“We want to go all out with the England flags and the food for the games, but it’s important not to get too carried away! Before heading to the supermarket to stock up on BBQ food for the football, create a list and do a little bit of research to work out which supermarkets stock your items at the best price. If you’re buying in bulk for a crowd of fans, even small savings will add up to a winning amount.”
